| BANZAI GIRL AND THE TIKBALANG JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/7/18 23:41 7263 5
Another monster of menace is the Tikbalang.
Known as a trickster, this half-horse, half-human shapeshifter has been known to lead many a weary traveller astray. Other times, it comes out in search of a mate!
And Banzai Girl, it seems, has caught his eye...

| BANZAI GIRL: THE MUMMY RETURNS! (Final color) by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado Other Comics 2013/11/22 21:24 7436 6
The Mummy wasn't done with poor Jinky yet! After trapping Banzai GIrl helplessly within the skin-tight, gossamer-thin mummy wrap, ol' dusty breath tries to entomb her in a sarcophagus!
Art by me, color by Katrina MaeHao, enjoyed (I hope) by you!
Remember to catch her continuing adventures over on banzaigirl.keenspot,com...and remember to post here what you think of my work.

Here's the color version of my illustration, hues courtesy of Katrina Mae Hao.
And yes, the "big head" effect on the figure was deliberate. The person who commissioned it wanted me to give it more of a Dean Yeagle "Mandy" flavor...

| BANZAI GIRL -- Light Reading JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/7/17 5:31 7620 10
I see a lot of 2-D hand-drawn illustrations here, so I plan to contribute a whole bunch of these. This is representative of my art style.
My character, Banzai girl, reading in her bedroom. I may do several variations of this as a theme. This one should get things started. :)
This is my art, with coloring by Michael Kelleher.
None of my line art is inked. It's all tight pencils. Here's how I work: I'll do several layouts, figure out what works best, blow the final layout up on a photocopier, then finish the drawing on my light table.

| BANZAI GIRL: NEW UNIFORMS! JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/8/16 23:31 7738 6
Some of you may be aware that my sister Michelle and I, after appearing together in FHM Philippines magazine in a lingerie shoot, actually got a recording deal and released an EP album! It consisted of four songs, plus as an enhanced CD it contained over a hundred photos of us, as well. It even included a photo booklet with exclusive shots, song lyrics, and so forth.
It was a pretty cool package. http://www.glasshousegraphics.com/banzaigirl/megamall/music.htm -- if you're curious.
We never got to do the on-stage performances that were discussed, but I'm imagining what they would have been like.
Appealing to our fan vase, I could envision a fancied up, manga'd up, future'd up abbreviated schoolgirl uniform for myself, and and wild/sexy armored battlesuit for Michelle.
Here's what I imagine it would've been like behind the scenes, moments before we went onstage!
Enjoy!

| LADY HEROMORPH! by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2010/1/19 19:07 7789 13
An icon in peril! Ripped from the headlines and ripping through dimensions, devilishly demonic dinosaurs are thundering their way across the cityscape, and LADY HEROMORPH is in hot pursuit!
Or is that she's hot, and is being pursued? Either way, our terrifically toned and tanned superheroine finds that discretion is the better part of valor until she can plan a new plan. She is no match for the rampaging creature's horns and teeth and claws -- just as her own costume is no match for the lovely Lady's fantastic physique!
Jr McDeath and the fabulous folks at Heromorph asked me to create a LADY HEROMORPH drawing, so here was my first crack at her character. She was a lot of fun! Coloring is by my usual colorist, Katrina Mae Hao.
Enjoy!

| BANZAI GIRL & MICHELLE JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/7/15 21:46 7884 6
...so Michelle came over to visit as I was still reading in my bedroom. It was getting really hot, so she went to open the window and found somebody peeking in!

| BANZAI GIRL VS. THE MANANANGGAL! JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/7/17 0:51 7897 5
Hi, again! --
One poster here wanted to see some scenes of me battling various and sundry Asian monsters of myth.
This is the Manananggal, a Filipino version of a vampire, that splits at the waist, leaving its lower half behind while in flight. It sucks the life from unborn babies still within the mother's womb! Majorly creepy!
This is drawn by me, with color by Michael Kelleher.

| TOTALLY TINA! by Tina Francisco JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/10/30 19:39 8632 10
For awhile now, I've been telling my good friend, animator Tina Francisco, to create a character of her own that she would enjoy drawing in pin-ups and in sequential stories.
Like me, she's a big fan of artist Dean Yeagle's work, plus she loves drawing cute fantasy imagery.
So she came up with the idea of doing a sexy young witch, still in Charm School (naturally).
What a perfect theme for Halloween on Heromroph, right? So I suggested that she call the concept TOTALLY TINA (naming her character after herself, like I did), and she agreed to let me post her first TOTALLY TINA drawing here on Heromorph, to get your comments.
Thank you, Tina.
Enjoy!

| BANZAI GIRL: TENTACLE TROUBLE JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/9/4 14:28 8742 7
If someone were to ask, "What's the most difficult problem that schoolgirls face today in a Heromorph world?", what would be the answer?
Homework? Dating complications? Lecherous teachers? Windy drafts? Uniforms that tear too easily? The mind reels.
So: I took an informal poll of all the manga and anime` schoolgirls I know, including my best friend and my sister, and our overwhelming answer is: Tentacles!
Those pesky things seem to show up anywhere and everywhere. I don't think of fried calamari with sweet chili sauce to be so much as an appetizer as payback! :)

| BANZAI GIRL: AYE, ROBOT! Part 3 JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/7/30 10:45 8749 9
Seeing her fall, the crowd below rallies and catches our 95-pound beauty, who gets on her feet and races back into the fray against the giant metal machine.
No sooner does Banzai Girl begin to fight back, than the robot begins firing razor-sharp spinning blades at her, pinning her against a wall!

I thought I'd make a few adjustments to the final look of the piece -- I changed the shoes a bit, had Katrina MaeHao make her overalls a denim, and even fine-tuned the paint on her brush.
I hope you like it!

| BANZAI GIRL: HUNTED BY THE MANANANGGAL! JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/8/5 21:29 9829 10
In a posting or two a few weeks ago, I depicted in line art the battle between my Banzai Girl character (conveniently named "Jinky Coronado") and the Manananggal -- a Filipino-style vampire that splits at the waist and flies!
A few days ago, I posted some photos in the Cookie Jar for folks to use for manips.
Here I've decided to "get the ball rolling" by combining the two -- one of the cookie jar photos combined with the Manananggal, and this is the result. Some (I hope) scary, compelling action, yet still sexy.
Photo of yours truly by Don Feenerty. Layout and base drawing by me. Final rendering by Edwin David.

| EXPOSURE: Meddling Dog! by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado Other Comics 2013/6/15 20:52 11397 6
So as I work on the EXPOSURE comic book series over at exposure.keenspot.com, I continue to get (and make!) the occasional joke about how Lisa and Shawna, and by extension Graham and Alan, are at times something like the "Scooby Gang" -- but without Scooby-Doo!
So, I thought, how fun would it be if they did indeed have a Great Dane?
Then one thing led to another, and before I could say, "Ruh-roh!", I'd created this piece, with colors (of course) by Katrina Mae Hao.
All I can say is: JINKIES!

| SUPERMAN & SUPERGIRL VS. KRYPTONITE GIRL! JinkyCoronado DC Comics 2009/10/30 17:01 12346 7
Finally: Here's the full-color version of my drawing of Superman and Supergirl being terrorized by Kryptonite Girl. Color is courtesy of Katrina Mae Hao.
As I mentioned when I posted the line art version some time ago, this is based on a 3D illustration posted by someone else. I wanted to add some motion and energy to the concept, and shake off the stiffness inherent in Poser-type illustrations, and see if I could make it work.
This is the first time I've ever drawn Superman -- or Supergirl, for that matter!
What do you think?

| BANZAI GIRL VS. THE DUWENDE! JinkyCoronado Original Characters 2009/7/17 19:39 13275 6
Continuing the theme of the monsters....
In Filipino mythology, the Duwende were strange dwarf creatures that haunt the night, often seen darting out from the edges of forests -- crossing roads and spotted in headlights.
Having lived in the Philippines for the first 20 years of my life, I could swear to glimpsing them in the evenings, while riding home from school in a jeepney.
As the story goes, one day I missed the jeepney ride and got pulled into the forest, where the Duwende made themselves known!

| RED SONJA! by Jinky Coronado JinkyCoronado Fantasy 2010/6/14 22:03 15387 14
I don't get a whole lot of comments on my work actually posted here on Heromorph, but I DO receive a lot of them left on my website or Emailed to me at banzaigirlmc@aol.com. (I love getting comments, so post 'em!! Please!)
One thing that seems to get a lot of attention is my drawing popular established comics characters. So my subject this time is RED SONJA.
It always bothers me when artists do a drawing where the heroine is just sort of standing around posing prettily, or maybe holding a weapon and looking like she's going "Grrrrr." Comics are about storytelling, so I try to tell a story of some sort with every drawing I do.
For this illustration, I decided to depict Res Sonja in the midst of battle, leading a hoard of female warriors, and attacked by a creature so vile his skin had been ripped from his body, revealing the muscles beneath! I wanted it full of energy, action, power -- and even at the monster's seeming moment of triumph, to give Red Sonja a sense of movement and beauty and grace -- without ever losing the knowledge that she is a warrior.
What do you think?

In the Philippines, there is a huge, scary, supposedly haunted type of tree called the Dakit.
It has been known to come to life, trapping travellers when they least expect it!
