| Killjoy pijon Other Comics 2008/11/24 17:44 3064 8
Okay, guess I'm really plumbing the depths of obscurity this time! Google "Ditko Killjoy" and you might even find online reprints of Killjoy's two appearances as a backup feature in Charlton's E-Man. It is Steve Ditko at his most irreverent and at his silliest. Anyway I realized hadn't really done a decent Ditko tribute piece so I thought I'd attempt one with Killjoy attempting to land a shot on the very slippery S.S.S. Snake. |

| Mr. X pijon Other Comics 2008/11/27 22:49 2943 5
Don't know how many folks are familiar with this great series from the 80's but I hear Dark Horse is set to give him a new series. Sorta tried a less is more approach here. |

Sure... why not? It could happen. |

| Tank Girl and Booga pijon Other Comics 2008/12/27 6:21 2937 9
Happy Holidays from Tank Girl and Booga. I hope everyone has a pleasant and safe New Year and remember, Tank Girl sez "Don't drive drunk unless yer drivin a fakkin tank, aye" |
|
| Mr. Monster pijon Other Comics 2009/1/14 11:00 3422 11
Mr. Monster and his sexy and smart assistant, Kelly Friday doing what they do best. I always loved Michael T. Gilbert's over the top artist owned superhero. He probably set some kind of record after having this character published under at least 6 different companies (that I know of)! |
|
| Glass Spider from Mars pijon Fantasy 2009/1/21 18:03 2354 7
...and now for something completely different... a martian glass spider! I've been fooling with some different ideas, approaches and techniques and this is one of the better results so far. I was undecided as to whether or not this fit in here but what the heck... it's fantasy scifi, right? |
|
| Dr. Strange pijon Marvel Comics 2009/1/28 8:03 3076 20
Um... I think I probably got a little carried away on the spell fx here but I've been trying new things. |
|
| The Spirit pijon Other Comics 2009/2/24 22:22 2591 6
File this under "Why I like the merged galleries better" dept: This way I don't have to think to hard about where to place a bastard child of 2D and 3D like this one! Anyway, background's pure 3D built in Bryce and the characters are first drawn in 2D then converted to 3D in Bryce and Daz. A tribute to Will Eisner... he was the man! and Spirit was one of the best comics ever. |
|
| The Trick pijon DC Comics 2009/7/7 4:51 3128 5
When Supergirl agreed to help out her friend with her magic act, there was no mention of a kryptonite saw! Nothing special, just a small tribute to those wacky silver age stories. |
|
| Patch Addams pijon Fantasy 2009/10/24 10:03 2497 3
Wellll, wanted to get SOMETHING in for Halloween so I figured it'd be a good a time as any to jot out a loving tribute the the late great cartoonist Charles Addams. Yup, those Addams Family movies and TV shows are based his cartoons. |
|
| Mr. A pijon Other Comics 2010/2/1 5:47 2311 5
A tribute to (Spiderman co-creator) Steve Ditko and his character, Mr. A, the original ghost faced killah in the name of justice. While I don't see eye to eye with Ditko's Objectivist philosophies, I do admire his artistic integrity, sacrificing larger popularity and greater financial gains to follow his own vision. |
|
| The Creeper pijon DC Comics 2010/2/26 11:59 2322 4
Still gots da Ditko fever... was gonna do Spidey vs. some old Ditko villain but Starchild suggested Creeper... a bit trickier for me but fun and challenging too. |
|
| Mysterio vs. Spiderman pijon Marvel Comics 2010/3/18 22:44 2580 7
Okay, I know this makes 3 Ditko tributes in a row but I think my Ditko fever's finally starting to break. Still, thought it only fitting to end it with a tribute to his most popular character, Spiderman. |

| The Crocodile Hunter pijon DC Comics 2010/3/27 15:27 2578 7
Thanks DD, Hiss & Haz for your comments and suggestions in HFC. Haz: Upping the bump definitely helped; gracias for that advice! Hisstoryman: Although it's subtle, I decided to include the skeleton as you suggested (it's underwater in the lower left), thank you too! Oh yeah... thanks ODS for the dynamic long cape used on Bats. M3 Bats, F3 Killer Croc.

| Superman: Footnotes in Crime pijon DC Comics 2010/4/17 21:03 2427 6
Footnotes in Crime: Doug (the Thug) Williams was an ambitious career criminal. He had henched for all the top supervillains like Lex Luthor and the Joker but was determined to make more of himself. Williams always invested his share of the take in steroids and his "supersuit fund" while managing to stay out of jail by ratting out his co-workers. Finally, he saved enough to purchase the supersuit and weapons, deeming himself Heavy Artillery. Determined to make a name for himself among the major supervillains, Heavy A (as his peeps now called him) set out to knock off the largest bank he could find.Unfortunately he had never bothered learning geography and map reading skills and had the misfortune of picking a bank in Metropolis. It has been speculated that Heavy Artillery might have had a somewhat successful career in Supervillainy if only he'd picked his target area more carefully. |

| That Yellow Bastard pijon TV and Movies 2010/4/26 23:01 2321 5
Sin City time. Some of the folks who check out Hellfire Club probably knew this was coming. Hartigan's still got one more good rescue in him and this time he's gonna take out that yellow bastard once and for all. |

| Concrete: Earth Day Remembered pijon Other Comics 2010/5/8 19:51 2636 7
After this latest oil spill off the Gulf Coast, I decided Paul Chadwick's character would be the perfect messenger to remind us all that while Earth Day's a wonderful idea, one three hundred and fifty sixth is a rather small fraction. Let's all try to show a little more love for the planet the rest of the year. |

| Nick Fury pijon Marvel Comics 2010/5/27 15:59 2428 7
Another Marvel Universe fighting American for Memorial Day.
Thanks Vadlor for the cool Poser shaders used. Thanks Cattle for beating me to the punch with his own very cool Nick pic 1st and encouraging me to do mine anyway as well as making me rethink how to do the character.
Also used: M4 Ghost Agent M4 Pirate (eye patch) Sky Mercenary (cigar) Liquid Halo (guns) M4 Hardcore (boots) Jason Hair Jepe's Flamez and Throwz G-Spot's Explosion brushes |

| WHEN CLASSIC COMIC COVERS COLLIDE... pijon DC Comics 2010/8/5 20:05 2511 8
After noticing a certain similar theme between the covers of Batman's 1st appearance in Detective Comics 27 and Spidey's 1st appearance in Amazing Fantasy 15, a strange idea came to mind... |
|
| Night of the Turtles pijon Other Comics 2010/9/22 0:12 2322 4
As I worked on this, I was struck by the fact that what (to me) is amusingly unique of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles among all supers is that while the rest wear masks to hide their identities, turtles appear to wear them so they can be told apart from one another
Credits: Daz's Martial Arts Weapons Pack and Multi-Sword BC Rooftopper Ninjas are David with Defenders of D'Akir outfit. Splinter is Monster Rat and Jinchuu Ken and Turtles are M3 with some homebrewed textures, props and morphs.
*Fixed the mixed up masks... thanks for the heads up, Danny! |

My new comic... I apologize in advance if you don't like it.
