| Three Wizards pijon Other Comics 2013/8/22 7:52 1904 4
First, all due apologies to B. This was supposed to be a collaboration but I got too carried away with my end. Something slightly different for me... trying to turn 3 of my favorite "British Invasion" comic writers into magical heroes... based on Neil Gaimen, Alan Moore and Grant Morrison.
*update: fixed Grant Morrison's flashlight nostrils. |

| Manhunter: Goodwin and Simonson version pijon DC Comics 2013/10/8 19:51 1911 5
Gotta be specific, you know. DC has had many characters to go by that name.
Archie Goodwin and Walt Simonson's Manhunter had the most humble of status at DC. Never had it's own title, ran as an 8 page backup in one of Batman's several titles (Detective) for 6 episodes before concluding in a full length Batman teamup story. It ran for 7 chapters between '73 and '74 and yet managed to pull in 6 major awards in that time. It certainly fueled my youthful enthusiasm when I'd first read it. Simonson's art was unlike anyone I'd seen doing superheroes at that time, stylish and brilliantly laid out too and Goodwin's script also seemed better than anything DC or Marvel had going at the time. So to one of my greatest comic inspirations, a tribute I'd wanted to do for a while... the one I'd sworn was impossible to do in 3D but just to prove I'm an idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about, I did it anyway! So here he is, facing off against an army of his clones once again.
Stonemason's Village Courtyard Daz Supersuit M4 Hardcore Boots Genesis Journeyer Scout Boots Rievel Hair Firearm Pack
I can't remember exactly where I found the Mauser pistol... it was a freebie in sketchup format. Bracers, belts, leg braces, shuriken made in Hexagon. Shirt sleeves made in Hexagon, converted to dynamic cloth in Poser then exported back to Daz.
*update: Someone elsewhere told me they were loosing the shuriken in the clone shirt shadows so I adjusted it's location and upped the brightness and contrast a little. |

| CHALLENGE: Iron Man Reboot pijon Monthly and other challenges 2013/7/11 21:50 1920 11
Tony Stark was a wealthy industrialist, a brilliant inventor playboy whose cutting edge technology was used to build weapons for the government and the rich profits from those contracts help fuel his lavish party lifestyle. Of late, Tony had begun to employ nanotechnology into these weapons. These microscopic robots or nanites were being used to build self-repairing weapons in Tony's lab. Tony had announced his breakthrough as the beginning of what would become an indestructable army. The hype generated by the news was remarkable yet not all were happy to hear it. Some viewed this as the rise of unstoppable dictatorships and certain groups plotted Stark's demise. So it was that a few days before his public demonstration of these new weapons that Tony stopped by his lab for a trial run of the weapons but it was not to be. Someone had managed to plant a bomb in the lab. As Tony picked one of the weapons from the table, there was a massive explosion. It was said no one could have survived a blast of such magnitude however Tony had... at least in a manner of speaking. Tony had received massively fatal injuries from the blast however the nanites were too small to be blown to bits. None the less, their programming was slightly scrambled from the concussive force. So it was that the nanites, unable to differentiate between Tony and weapon repaired him, turning him into a mix of man, metal and circuitry. Tony soon discovered that the nanites swarming on and through his body allowed him to reshape and animate any metal he touched as though it were an extension of his own body and control any circuitry in a similar manner. Tony kept his secret from the public, proclaiming this as a new high tech armor suit but the reality was there was no suit, just a man slowly turning into a machine. More troubling still, the nanites at times appeared to have their own agenda. So while Tony plays hero for the public, he worries deeply over what he is becoming and whether there will be anything left of himself by the time the nanite changes are completed.
*this is the first time I've used DS4 and Genesis so pardon me as I'm still trying to get up to speed. I'm also more than a bit rusty as this is the 1st 3D pic I've done this year... trying to be as prolific as Jr. |

I have not seen the recent Disney movie about John Carter yet but rather read the books by Tarzan author Edgar Rice Burroughs way back in high school and enjoyed countless works of great fantasy art based on the series since. Here's my version of John Carter, the Martian princess Deja Thoris and a Martian Ape.

| By-Tor and the Snow Dog pijon Fantasy 2014/5/7 16:38 1991 5
Based on an old song by the band Rush: "Tobes of Hades, lit by flickering torchlight The netherworld is gathered in the glare Prince By-Tor takes the cavern to the north light The sign of Eth is rising in the air By-Tor, knight of darkness Centurion of evil, devil's prince Across the River Styx, out of the lamplight His nemesis is waiting at the gate The Snow Dog, ermine glowing in the damp night Coal-black eyes shimmering with hate By-Tor and the Snow Dog Square for battle, let the fray begin The battle's over and the dust is clearing Disciples of the Snow Dog sound the knell Rejoicing echoes as the dawn is nearing By-Tor, in defeat, retreats to Hell Snow Dog is victorious The land of the Overworld is saved again"
Daz Genesis and Millenium Dog are the models used in this dance. Journeyer Scout pants and shirt for By-Tor. His medallion is from M4 Evilson. Genesis Bracers also used. Torch, dagger, crown and cape I made in Hexagon. Background made in Bryce, characters rendered in DS4. Gate from Stonemason's Graveyard set. Garibaldi Hair Plug-In for D/S also used. |

| Defenders of the Dragon pijon Original Characters 2011/1/31 1:04 2014 3
The days of the dragon had long since passed. Most folks thought of dragons as creatures of myth but the dragons were real and so was their importance to this world. It had been a long time since there had been news of a juvenile dragon as the mature dragons had such long lives and knew well how to remain hidden from man. A secret order of temple priests would provide sanctuary for the young dragon until it matured enough to fend for itself, if it could be retrieved. Fate had brought together the unlikely trio of a wandering monk, a warrior princess and an ex-samurai mercenary to deliver the dragon to them. Unfortunately, the evil lord Hakuyashi, believing it's blood will grant him a dragon's lifespan and mystical powers, has sent his army to acquire the dragon by any means necessary... |

| Smackdown Intro: Bat-Mite pijon Smackdown 2017/6/12 16:56 2079 7
Bat-Mite says his long goodbyes to his adopted family. Adopted by him, that is.... in spite of their numerous well expressed objections. They are all left slightly agitated and confused, which is generally the case when Bat-Mite visits. Wow, Bat-Mite got his own Heromorph Smackdown invitation! Bat-Mite knows he can't be late for such a very important date! It seems some of the guests were already arriving and in grand style too!
"Sometimes you just get lucky," Batman thought, "Good timing." Changing the name on the invitation was child's play and convincing Bat-Mite the invitation was his and getting him to accept went effortlessly. He was somebody else's pint-sized problem now.

| Deathlok the Demolisher pijon Marvel Comics 2014/5/18 23:39 2209 12
I always thought Deathlok a remarkably cool and original character for Marvel. It was a great mix of some of the best elements of Terminator and Robo-Cop and if that doesn't sound so original now, bear in mind that this was before either of those 80's flicks. This dead soldier from the near-future turned cyborg assassin gone rogue fighting against evil corporate and military regimes that had taken over our government (published in '77, ironically set in 1990). A really great premise doomed to fail as it originally exisited outside the normal Marvel universe and once Marvel attempted to bring the character into it's standardized superhero universe, it weakened character and theme IMO. Still, an interesting enough character that he has been periodically been reincarnated over the decades on a semi-regular basis. It's good to see Deathlok finally getting a bit of what's due now as the Agents of Shields TV series introduced a version of the character this past season. This version is based on the original Luther Manning Deathlok. All Daz Gen 3 models here: David in his ultrasuit and three Michaels three all with Uzilite's MOS Invasion gear. Digivault's Destroyed City set also used. |
