| Der Heilung
VagabondX Original Characters 2007/1/3 22:13

This one is in honor of all the women who have fought, are fighting or will fight breast cancer. My grandmother and aunt have both gone through it. They are survivors, thank God. And my girlfriends brother-in-law lost his mom to it. I would have loved to do a powerful and emotional masterpiece but I'm not that good so I just fell back on what I do the most and made up a character for it. Her name, 'Der Heilung', is German for 'The Cure'. No significance to the German except that it looked cool and I didn't want to just call her 'The Cure'. I know that men do get breast cancer occasionally also but its much more of a threat to women so I made the character female. I hope noone is upset that I interjected some serious subject matter into Heromorph. I don't do it often. This is just something I wanted to do. |

I promisse I'll never use these beams of light again. Here, however, I felt they worked really well to match my Hawkgirl and to establish a certain mood. Also, I like the feather pattern but by no means I think it is realistic. Anyone who tried to make a Hawkgirl or an Angel knows that!
Liquify and Polar Coordinates were very helpful here to create these wings.
I've put two images side by side, with a few horizontal distortions, in order to form a 3D effect. You gentlemen may attempt to see it by crossing your eyes. |

Well one of my FAVORITE movies is Star Wars and I'd hafta say that Darth Vader has to be one of the greatest villains EVER created! A friend asked me to do this for her nephew for Xmas so during the holidaze I threw this piece together, I always wanted to do a version of the dark lord and I'm happy with the outcome!

When I was in High school, I remember picking up a mini-series by Marvel comics called "WOLVERINE" written and illustrated by Frank Miller aand I always thought he was one of the coolest characters and also one of Marvel's most tormented . . . . what a great book! If they do the Wolverine movie (and I hear they are) I hope they follow the story line from that series, IT HAD IT ALL! . . . He fought ninjas, grizzly bears, there was the love he had for a japanese woman who's father wouldn't allow it and tries to kill him, while another woman who loved him was an assassin trying to kill him too! Well at any rate this was the costume he wore in that series, iI always liked this one better than the Blue & yellow one. . . .

I did this piece for a very special person for Christmas '06, I wanted it to compliment the Elektra I originally did that started this whole series of colored pencil pieces. . . . I've always liked Daredevil as a character, he's gotta be one of the koolest ones out there . . .And I had a GREAT time bringin' "The man without fear" to life!

"Why do you say these things to me when you know I will kill you for it?!"
My take on General Zod. I retained the black patent leather boots and trim from the movie version. Added the red verticle design and deep blacks from the John Byrne reboot version from the comicbooks.
Zod's face, of course, is inspired by Terrence Stamp's great performance in Superman II. However, as I look at it, a little touch of Anthony Ainley's Master from Doctor Who seems to have crept in.
Also, I changed Zod's Kryptonian symbol into one inspired by Superman's from Kingdom Come. The hair I had to change by making a new transparency map for Jason Hair.

| Olympic Recliner Races / Heromorph Challenge #4
Raddar Original Characters 2006/12/30 14:21
3032 8
In 2010 Sears Recliners joined forces with Lockheed Martin and produced the first jet recliner. After a few initial mishaps, in which some 42 couch potato test pilots were killed, engineers worked out the bugs and the "Jet Seats" were mass produced. Only two years after it's conception the recliners made their debut in the 2012 Olympic games held in New York. These second generation recliners are capable of reaching speeds in excess of 800 MPH. Now even the fatest and laziest couch potato can jet out and pick up his own friggin pizza. Optional features include built in TV remote and dual 25 gallon beer kegs with drinking tube.

blubeetle3 DC Comics 2006/12/29 20:10
2837 6
Not just Blue Beetle in his uniform from I Can't Believe It's Not the Justice League. No, no. This is the evil Mirror Universe Blue Beetle.
If you read the story, the "Super Buddies" wind up on an alternate Earth after leaving Hell (Don't ask!). This Earth had evil dopplegangers of some of the heroes (including a dominatrix Mary Marvel! Hotcha!). At one point Mirror Sue Dibny asked Mirror Max Lord why our Beetle was "wearing Teddy's costume". So, although we never got to see the Mirror Blue Beetle, we know he exists, he wears the black costume, and he doesn't look like our Ted Kord.
So how could I make him look different?
See the van dyke? That's a dead giveaway he's EVIL! (basic STAR TREK 101) |
