Recently I was asked to contribute some artwork to a comic that is being put together by a guy named Dan Schkade of his characters. Several different artists are working on the book and I was assigned six pages. I'm going to post them here now that they are done. I don't really know how this came about. It was the base model's pose I think. She was beautiful, but sad looking, standing there holding what looked to be a black wall. So, the birth of an idea came to me. What if Kara is mourning the loss of Superman? And this is what I came up with. The whole pic took about 3 hours.
The statue of Superman came from a sculpture of the Kingdom Come Series. The model came from the web. Anyways, I hope you like it.

This is my Seraph (I'm sure at least one or two of you has started recognizing her by now!) done in an old sk00l pin up pose. I based it off a (omg!) pin up photo I found through google.
Pure digital painting, took me all day in PS 7 to get her done, and I messed up. I didn't do a larger version because sometimes I prefer to just work with the size it needs to be. So for this I started small, because it was to be my new I.D. on deviantART. Halfway through I realized it was turning out fairly nice...but I'd already spent so many hours on it already I didn't want to start over.
Anyway, I'm rather proud of it, regardless of how small she is. And I do not own a tablet! Everything I do with photoshop is done with a mouse. So there. :P
I mention that because people seem to think I have a tablet. I wish I did!
She doesn't have the wings in this picture, though I did another version with a set of paintbrush wings that I threw on there for an avatar. But it's even smaller than this, so I'm not putting it on here.
Next time I'll make a really really huge digi-painting. |

| Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale...of what happened when a copy of Charles Atlas' "Dynamic Tension" washed up on the beach. No more 98 lb weaklings here, folks! I just wish I'd been able to find some higher resolution pics of the castaways, which would've allowed me to avoid all the blurring I had to do in the background. The hardest part was the gals. Their heads hadda be stuck onto the same body, then I hadda play with the lighting, skin tone etc. Anyhoo...ENJOY! |

Neilroks' little blonde creation. As he requested! I've taken a few liberties with the costume, this is due to creative reasons or just because I didn't want to spend much longer tweaking the image. It isn't perfect but what the hey. The face is mariah carey the rest is a model I just took for the pose. Hope you like, this will be the last time I'm posting for a while as I have to learn QuarkXPress to improve my job prospects, no or little free time.
