I've been seeing lots of crickets around lately. They are one of the few insects that don't give me the creeps and I thought, "Why are there no cricket superheroes?" Probably because the cricket can't do anything much on the cool side. Doesn't climb walls, shoot webs etc. But MAN can those little things JUMP! This guy, The Cricketeer, can jump like a mile when he really has to. He has slightly tougher skin than most humans. About as tough as plywood maybe. Seemed like the right toughness to be in proportion to a carapace. He can also tell what the weather is going to do before it happens...hm, there's his alter ego right there. TV weatherman! I don't know if thats a real ability of the insect but there are rumors about it. And he can produce a loud chirping noise that can stun bad guys. Or annoy coworkers. Whichever is needed. Although, if he did it around his coworkers it would defeat the whole secret identity thing so scratch that. Oh yeah, he can communicate with real crickets.
Not an epic hero but a fun one. |

I need some honest feedback on this character design
for my webcomic. It's supposed to be the main character's rock star persona, but being the general geek I am, I don't know if it's quite right for what I want. I'm going for more of a punk rocker chick look, rife with studs and tats and everything else your mother warned you about in a girl, that sort of thing. Please, anyone, just let me know what you think and what, if anything, she needs. Thanks in advance. |

Just a quick manip of Kristiana Loken as Kara Zo-Rel. Multiple background layers - new york (yes I left in the towers!), couple of exploding planets overlayed and some kryptonian script. Supergirl herself is recolor of Kristiana's original clothes with some alterations to make the belt/skirt and the cape added from scratch. The shirt logo was deformed from one i created using psp vectors. removed some (few) blemishes and enhanced the eye color. Little ship in the background is kara escaping the explosion.
Wanted to do a more realistic version of the current costume, but I prefer the highly saturated feel, these are comic characters after all.

Hmmm... Not sure if Mindwave put the mental image in everyone's mind or if she just told everyone, but, her nickname for Virtue seems to have stuck!
And again, poor Black Beetle gets the blame!  Someone loses their pants in battle? BEETLE'S FAULT! A dress suddenly appears on someone else? BEETLE'S FAULT! It's not like Beetle controls Mindwave or anything! YEEESH!
Anyone ever consider that Matrixblur has reality altering abilities? BLAME HIM FOR A CHANGE! |

I know she doesn't need a snorkel and fins, but the script said swim and if they were wanted or needed. I had them, so I used them. did a plain blue background, and didn't put much in the means of obstacles, mindwave already kilt the sharks, soooo. Really just doing this part of the script. also it's not overly funny, but a couple snicker's in the dialog.  |

| I think I thought of a cool arch nemesis for The Christian. He is...The Christian. Yep, same name. Or not, I might call him The Disciple or something so that it doesn't become too confusing. Here's the story. So much of the world has a bad idea of Christians because of the many who claim to be followers of Christ but don't live up to it. Specifically, the ones who don't see others as God's children but see them as 'sinners' who should be punished. Where my original Christian character will not allow himself to harm humans or allow them to be harmed, this new guy sees himself as sort of God's avenging right hand or something. If he encounters a person who he believes has sinned he feels it his responsibility to punish them. In the beginning he's actually inspired by The Christian's crusade but, after the two meet, he sees the Christian as flawed since he won't harm people. He isn't actively out to destroy the Christian, at least at first, but the two are often at odds due to the originals vow to protect all humans and the new guys determination to punish sinners. I think it would lead to some intense battles since the original C can't even allow himself to harm this guy while the new C isn't bound by this. Although he can't physically hurt the Christian with him being invulnerable but he knows the Christian can't harm him either and uses this knowledge whenever he can. Plus, the new guy is aware of the supernatural attributes of the C's hammer and while he won't admit it, he fears it. He would never admit it but some part of his subconscious is afraid of what might happen if it were to ever touch him. He does believe he's right but is also afraid to test that conviction. I don't know if that makes any sense but I understand it. The Christians difficulties with this guy would be multi faceted. On the one hand, he has to somehow stop the guy without hurting him. And on the other he has to try and combat the bad image of christians in general this guy shows to the world. An image many people already hold and are quick to accept. |
