After completion of my first manip Wonder Woman, I decided to challenge myself with my favourite DC lady Supergirl. Upon browsing various blonde actresses, I came across several photos of actress Kristen Bell (of Veronica Mars fame) and combined them. I then found as many Hi-res promo and magazine images from the latest Superman flick and began work. Everything on the outfit where made from the 5 or 6 Superman Returns images I found. Unlike my previous Wonder Woman manip, I left the outfit pretty much unchanged from the most recent comic book style but did take some liberties in the colour scheme, most notably the skirt which I change from blue to red due to the blue being too dominant in the outfit. Also added a touch of gold to the skirt as well. Started this in early August and finished it Dec 1.
UPDATE - Apr 2007: The amount of mistakes in the original was bugging the hell out of me since day one so I redesigned pretty much the whole thing. New skirt, boots, shirt, cape and background also added some subtle textures and details to the outfit. Now I'm much happier. |

More bad burlesque, this was actually much more difficult than it looks. Besides being just a head swap, it's also a bikini swap, boob swap, hair swap, other added parts and lots of retouching. The only thing left of the original model is the arms. I should post all my references just to show how far removed the final image is from its source. Very much like customizing a stock car but with a different type of body.
Building the staircase was the worst. But if that wasn't enough, I had to establish convincing consistent light throughout (hope it worked) and added the same crappy noise and distortions on all objects to give the impression that this is is an authentic screen cap.
I think I got all seams covered. |

Unknown to Blue Beetle though, Booster reprogrammed his mind to forget his past life and to remember nothing more than being a common streetwalker. Booster seeing his former friend posing on the street quickly falls prey to her new body and becomes her best customer. |

I just wish I had more time to devote to it so it wasn't taking me so long. I'm not sure if these are regarded as sketches or not and whether or not they should be in that new forum/gallery thing but I'm sure I'll find out one way or the other. |

| Well I originally did this piece back in '05 in my black book in markers, and had the inks scanned before I went to color it. So the other piece you've seen up here was the DIGITAL version of this piece which I was able to get the nice stone texture in the Hand o' doom . . . . but as I've said before, I love just gettin' in there and usin' the markers, so I finally got around to scanning and posting it! . . . . And of course the explanation behind the Mignola signature is: I went to this thing that year called "A night with Mike Mignola" at Parsons School of design in NYC, he was a nice guy and really easy to talk to and he thought my version of his character was "cool" as well!!! . . . . This girl's name is Sophia Babol Ghora.
She is descending from a family of kings,in one of the most biggest city,in planet called solaris.
But is not onl this fact,she also descends of two old warriors, who had become legend, as well as its facts.
Although her real obligations, Sophia is normal girl, with her dreams, and fantasies, and despite her father's orders, decides to train to develop its powers,trying to be someday powerful like her grandmothers of 1000 years ago.

There's a lot to tell about this history yet,but I will left it for another time.

Kiko Ishitaki, Japanese/Chinese American. Her mother came from a long line of Chinese witches she fought crime in the 80's as Princess Dragon. Her father was a rich weapon designer who supplied many of Earth's champions with weapons, vehicles and legal aid, when needed. When the two met it was fate and they were married in 1986, Kiko was born in 1987.
The 90's became a troubling time for heroes. In 1995 80% of Earth's heroes had died in battle with alien invaders. The remaining heroes formed a super group and became very close, too close. Princess Dragon had found love in the arms of one of those heroes and divorced her husband.
A new threat emerged from no where and the battles with dim wits gifted with powers who dressed in outlandish costumes was replaced by creatures of all shapes and sizes, no purpose save destruction.
In the year 2001, Princess Dragon was killed in action by one such beast, her body never recovered, a portion of her power was transfered to her young daughter.
Kiko had trained to be a hero all her life with her mother, but now living in her father's home, she had to do so in secret.
In 2007 her father disappeared and no longer would she sit on the sidelines. She would join the battle with her mother's allies and find her father.
Two simple goals...so she thought. |
